Commission to probe threat to dividends from IFRS

The European Commission's Accounting Regulatory Committee decided at a meeting on 20 May 2005 to explore the threat from the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) to companies' ability to pay dividends. The move is likely to stir up further disquiet over the new accounting rules.
