The European Commission released on 8 March 2017 an update on progress relating to the European Solidarity Corps, launched in December 2016. That first stage adopted a gradual approach, building on existing programmes and instruments. A comprehensive legislative proposal for a self-standing legal instrument was scheduled to be put forward later in 2017. For that purpose, the Commission opened a public consultation. |
