Background and further information:

The Diversity and Inclusion strategy focuses on four main target groups: women, staff with disabilities, LGBTI people and older staff. The strategy also kicks off a process of reporting, monitoring and further fine-tuning of proposed measures. The first Diversity and Inclusion Report was set to be published in spring 2018.

The measures also aim to deliver on the commitment of the Juncker Commission towards the Commission staff.

The European Commission presented on 19 July 2017 its reviewed human resources policy, aiming to deliver on the commitment to encourage gender equality and equal opportunities, as well as a diverse and inclusive workplace.

This policy comprises the adoption of a set of measures to bring female representation in the Commission's management to at least 40% by 1 November 2019. It also includes the adoption of a Diversity and Inclusion Charter.
