Commission launches call for proposals to finance transport infrastructure projects

The European Commission launched on 8 February 2017 a call for proposals to finance transport infrastructure projects in the European Union.

The call for proposals sought to combine grants (Connecting Europe Facility - CEF Transport) with financing from public financial institutions, the private sector or, for the first time, the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI). In order to receive CEF support, applicants were going to be asked to show evidence of the projects' financial readiness to obtain complementary funding from public or private financing institutions.

Selected projects should contribute to transportation strategies along the Trans-European Transport Network.
