During the annual conference of Future Media Lab, which took place in Brussels on 20 January 2015, Jonathan Hill - head of cabinet of European Commissioner for Culture Tabor Navracsics - warned that digitisation posed a danger to media diversity, defending the EU should focus as much on content and quality as access issues within the planned digital single market strategy.

On 12-13 February 2015, the Startup Europe Summit took place in Berlin. It featured EU's Digital Commissioner Günther Oettinger and Commission Vice President Andrus Ansip - the first spoke in support of net neutrality and tech-startups, the second called for other forms of IT promotion.
