Summary:This Code of Conduct for the 2024 European Parliament elections was developed to support the follow-up by European and national political parties to the Commission Recommendation (EU) 2023/2829 on inclusive and resilient electoral processes in the European Union (EU). The commitments draw from that text, as well as from other experiences such as the Dutch Code of Conduct on Transparency of Online Political Advertising, concluded ahead of the Dutch parliamentary elections in 2021. It aims to serve as a comprehensive checklist for political parties, candidates, media, and citizens to monitor ethical behaviour throughout the election campaign. The text was signed by the Vice-President of the European Commission on 9 April 2024. |
