Civil society representatives express support for the Constitution

Broad support for the EU Constitution was expressed on 25 November 2004 at an all-day hearing with representatives of civil society, social partners and local and regional authorities. The Constitutional Affairs Committee of the European Parliament had organised this wide-ranging debate ahead of its vote on the report on the Constitution by Richard Corbett (PES, UK) and Íñigo Mendez de Vigo (EPP-ED, ES). The committee vote will take place on 30 November 2004 with the plenary vote following in Strasbourg in January 2005.
