'But there is no doubt that the economic freedoms, particularly the free movement of goods, have been highly developed by the ECJ. . . . Until recently, free movement of persons under the treaty has not been given such broad scope'. This critical observation in a recently published treatise on European constitutional law will be checked against the latest developments in the law of free movement of persons initiated by the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice.
