At a meeting in London on 25 February 2005, the Union of Committees of Soldiers' Mothers (UCMS) and Chechen separatist leader Aslan Maskhadov agreed that the decade old conflict in Chechnya could not be settled by force, and signed a 'road to peace' proposal.
