Together with Professor Ilona Kickbusch, Director of the Global Health Programme at the Graduate Institute in Geneva, Clingendael Research Fellow Louise Van Schaik co-authored a paper for the European Office of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The paper entitled "Challenges for health governance in Europe: the role of the WHO Regional office for Europe" was considered by the organisation as a think piece meant to stimulate further discussions and debate on health-related governance questions in Europe.

The paper is available in English, French, German and Russian and is accompanied by the executive summary from a related informal consultation which took place 13-15 January 2010 in Glion, Switzerland.

Both the paper and the meeting facilitated the transition process for the new Regional Director of the European Office of WHO, Ms. Zsuzsanna Jakab. The research and consultation was organized by the Global Health Programme with the support of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health
