Chairman describes Alitalia as ‘comatose’

Alitalia, Italy’s lossmaking national airline is on its deathbed and hopes to identify a shortlist of potential buyers of the government’s 49.9 per cent stake by 10 October 2007, Maurizio Prato, its chairman, told a hearing of the Italian Parliament on 25 September 2007.
