Abstract:

This work presents a comprehensive collection of important cases and legislation. This edition has been fully updated and the structure has been revised from that used in previous editions.

The work is divided into four parts. Part one, The Constitutional Law of the EU, covers the evolution of the European Union, the sources, nature and enforcement of Community law, the effect of Directives, state liability, and the control of Community institutions. Part two, Community Trade Law and Policy, deals with the internal market and the impact of '1992', fiscal, physical and technical barriers to trade, freedom of establishment and the free movement of workers and services, and the concept of European citizenship. Part three, Competition Law, covers cartels and market domination, and the enforcement of competition law. The fourth part, Policy-Making, Governance and the Constitutional Debate, is new and designed to introduce the reader to some of the most pressing and inspiring contemporary challenges in the shaping of an effective, efficient and trustworthy system of governance for Europe.

The work will interest advanced level students of EU law.
