Carmakers to warn MPs on recycling

UK carmakers warned British MPs on 23 October 2001 that the financial stability of the UK car industry could be put at risk by the government's interpretation of new European Union rules on vehicle recycling. As part of a recycling initiative, manufacturers will be obliged to assume financial responsibility for scrapping old cars from the beginning of 2002.
