The Arab Spring had brought about numerous debates on Turkey’s potential as a role model or inspiration for countries of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Turkish and Western NGOs engaging counterparts in the MENA region was one way to build cooperation with rising democracies. However, Turkish civil society needed to develop know-how and relevant skills to effectively engage counterparts in this complex region. |
