United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron was accused on the 31 January 2012 of deploying a worthless veto at the European Council in December 2011 after the prime minister performed an about-turn at a subsequent informal European Council, Brussels, 30 January 2012 and agreed that EU institutions should after all be given a role in enforcing eurozone fiscal discipline.
