Business calls for tough line on red tape

The UK must toughen its regulatory system and bring it into line with that of the European Union, the British Chambers of Commerce urged in a report published on the 20 April 2010 as UK business steped up pressure on the political parties over red tape.

Tim Ambler of the London Business School, the co-author of a report for the BCC, said he was 'very unimpressed' by all the parties' manifesto pledges on regulation, which failed to take the impact of EU legislation into account.
