Brussels to overhaul rules on state aid

The EU's state aid regime faces the most ambitious overhaul in six decades, Joaquín Almunia, the European Commissioner for Competition Policy said on the 2 February 2012.

Announcing the plans Mr Almunia said it was time to change the ground rules for state aid so as to cut irrelevant cases, target resources on growth and free up manpower for bigger cross-border investigations.
