According to a Communication adopted by the European Commission on 18 May 2005, the United States and European Union should permit 'trusted economic operators' to forego certain security procedures introduced since September 11 2001, to cut down on some of the costs and delays that have hindered transatlantic trade flow. The initiative forms part of broader recommendations from the EC aimed at strengthening the transatlantic relationship prior to the EU-US Summit on 20 June 2005. |
