Brussels fund may provide UK flood damage help

The United Kingdom could receive up to £125m in emergency European Union funding to help foot the bill for damages from the July 2007 floods.

Flood Recovery Minister John Healey announced 1 August 2007 the Government’s intention to lodge an application to the European Commission for support from the European Union Solidarity Fund (EUSF) to help recovery from the recent flooding in the UK. The Government submitted an application to the European Commission for support on the 20 August 2007.
