Brussels eases rules for bank state aid

European governments will be able to pump money more easily into their domestic banks and reinvigorate lending after the European Commission made concessions on state aid rules on 8 December 2008 to distinguish assistance to 'fundamentally sound' banks from that given to ailing institutions.
