Brussels agreement clears way for local venture capital funds

English regions will receive venture capital funds following resolution of a dispute with the European Commission over their structure. Implementation of Chancellor Gordon Brown's plans was delayed because the Commission was concerned that subsidies to the funds may constitute illegitimate state aid.
