On the 18 July 2016, the Council of the European Union approved new requirements to reduce pollutant emissions from engines of non-road mobile machinery, such as lawn mowers or cranes.

The purpose of these measurements is to protect the health of EU citizens and the environment, but also to help the Member States to achieve the national ceilings for emissions which had been agreed at the end of June 2016.

The adoption of this regulation follows the provisional agreement with the European Parliament from 6 April 2016.
