Article reports that the German government is ready to give Opel a €1bn credit guarantee after the German arm of General Motors said in November 2008 it could run out of cash. Deutsche Welle reported that Chancellor Angela Merkel held talks with Opel representatives on the 17 November 2008 on the future of the company as a debate flared on the company's request for state aid. But the government made no promises, and gave no cash. |
