The BBC and other news sources reported in August 2013 that a Belarus - Russia dispute over control of potash exports had escalated, with Belarus threatening to prosecute a billionaire Russian businessman Vladislav Baumgertner. Russia hit back by imposing cuts on oil exports and threatening food imports in moves that it insisted had no connection to the arrest of Mr Baumgertner on the 27 August 2013. |
