Report of the challenges facing Germany Social Democrats (SPD) as they see a long term drop in support. Despite the former SPD Government of Gerhard Schröder’s being the instigator of the Agenda 2010 programme of labour market and welfare reforms, the current SPD leadership see a need to dismantle some of those reform in order to regain political support from voters. Economists in Germany argue that the reforms have been hugely beneficial for Germany.
