Bankers fear over-regulation

European bankers warned at conferences in London, Madrid and Frankfurt on the 17 November 2009 that excessive regulation in response to the global financial crisis would endanger growth in the real economy. However, some international officials at the conferences insisted tougher rules and an end to taxpayer-funded bank bail-outs remained essential for recovery.
