A new support package for the Balkans was announced on 25 October 2001, providing financing to improve transport links and deepen economic integration among the countries of south-eastern Europe. In a separate development, on 22 October 2001, the European Commission adopted a strategy for programming €197 m to promote regional co-operation in Albania, Bosnia, Croatia, Yugoslavia and Macedonia. |
