BA raises Iberia stake and could lift it again

British Airways increased its stake in Iberia, the Spanish flag carrier, to 13.15 per cent 19 March 2008 and said it would consider raising the holding further. BA has taken advantage of the recent fall in Iberia's share price but the move to raise its stake also reflects a renewed interest in the future ownership of the Spanish group as the pace of consolidation in the European airline industry appears to be accelerating.
