Summary:Communication published by the European Commission on 27 April 2022, providing an overview concerning its vision for the European Union's legal migration policy. Further information:Legal migration is seen as an essential part of the comprehensive approach to migration set out in the New Pact on Migration and Asylum, which also aims to ensure more coherence between the internal and external dimensions of migration policies. This Communication sets out the three pillars of the European Commission's vision on the EU's legal migration policy. It aims at fostering a more effective framework for legal pathways to the EU. The document also addresses the immediate need to integrate in the EU labour market the working age people arriving in the European Union as a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
