Attacks on Muslims in Europe rising

A report, 'Islamophobia in the EU after 11 September 2001', published on 23 May 2002 by the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC) reveals that that the terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 have led to a prolonged increase in violence and verbal abuse against Muslims across the European Union. The situation is most serious in Northern Member States with the increase in physical attacks most notable in Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden.
