Argentina’s complaint over description of the Falklands in the EU Constitution

Argentina issued in May 2005 a formal complaint concerning the description of the Falkland Islands in the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe as an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom.

A spokesperson for the European Commission stated the annex containing the description had been copied from existing EU treaties. The EC further added that the EU Constitution was not going to harm Argentina's claim to the Falkands.
