Summary: Reports, analyses and information on the appointment of Cyprus's Stella Kyriakides as European Commissioner for Health, in the European Commission led by Ursula von der Leyen. Further information: Stella Kyriakides (or Kyriakidou) was a member of the Cypriot Parliament and was appointed by the country's President as the candidate for the College of Commissioners on 26 July 2019. Her background in health matters led media sources to predict a related portfolio for the lawmaker. Ms Kyriakides was formally announced on 9 September 2019 by the President of the European Commission. Her portfolio was known on the following day, set to take on the role as the European Commissioner for Health.
