Antitrust: Commission accepts commitments by Paramount on cross-border pay-TV services

On the 26 July 2016, the European Commission made the commitments offered by Paramount legally binding under EU antitrust rules. Following up on the Statement of Objections from July 2015 which had stated the Commission’s preliminary view that certain clauses in film licencing contracts for pay-TV between Paramount and Sky UK breach EU antitrust rules.

In April 2016, Paramount had offered commitments in order to address the Commission’s concerns, which had been made legally binding after the consultation with other market participants.
