Summary:Communication published by the European Commission on 22 November 2022, setting out the Annual Sustainable Growth Strategy for 2023. Further information:This Annual Sustainable Growth Survey outlines the policy priorities in 2023 and provides guiding principles for implementing them in the 2023 European Semester cycle. The European Semester provides a framework for coordinating the economic and employment policies of the EU Member States. It includes an agenda aimed at mitigating the impacts of energy shocks in the short term and continuing the efforts to support sustainable and inclusive growth and increase resilience in the medium term, while maintaining flexibility to tackle new challenges. The approach is structured, like in previous years, around the four dimensions of competitive sustainability and in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an integral part of the European Semester. For Euro area Member States, the policy priorities are translated into a recommendation for a Council recommendation on the economic policy of the euro area. This Communication also outlines the main characteristics of the 2023 European Semester cycle and explains the main changes compared to previous cycles, taking into account REPowerEU priorities and the need to adapt to evolving circumstances. |
