The Communication on A renewed European agenda for research and innovation – Europe’s chance to shape its future placed research and innovation (R&I) at the heart of agenda for jobs, growth, fairness and democratic change, and of preparations for the future of the European Union (EU). In 2018, the economy continued to expand for the fifth year in a row. By November, the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI) had supported projects in all Member States for a total investment value of €360 billion, of which two thirds are from private resources. Horizon 2020 contributed directly to these positive developments, creating around 592,000 new jobs between 2014 and 2018. |
