Summary:Report adopted by the Council of the European Union in August 2022 concerning progress on the implementation of the EU Strategy against the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), covering activities carried out in 2021. Further information:TheĀ European Union Strategy against the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) was adopted by the European Council in December 2003. This Report is non-exhaustive and focuses on the main developments. In 2021, multilateral work on non-proliferation and disarmament issues continued to be impact by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, mostly because of travel restrictions. While a number of multilateral meetings were postponed, many otherĀ meetings could be organised online and some in-person. In that way, multilateral discussions could continue, while recognising the limitations of interactions via videoconference. |
