Summary: Information Guide bringing together relevant documents and reports concerning the 2022 EU annual budget. This budget is influenced by the overall Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2021-2027 and the NextGenerationEU instrument. Further information: The European Commission adopted the documents concerning its proposal for the 2022 annual budget on 8 June 2021, comprising a total of €167.8 billion to be complemented by an estimated €143.5 billion in grants under NextGenerationEU. The main aims of the proposed budget are to boost the recovery from the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, to put the European Union (EU) on the path towards a sustainable future, to protect and create jobs. The draft was submitted to the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament for a joint decision. The draft general budget was tabled by the European Commission on 9 July 2021. Member State representatives adopted a negotiating position on behalf of the Council of the European Union on 14 July, followed by the plenary of the Parliament on 20 October. The co-legislators reached an informal political agreement on the proposed annual budget on 15 November. The agreement was for commitments of €169.5 billion, and payments of €170.6 billion. |
