Annual epidemiological report 2012: Reporting on 2010 surveillance data and 2011 epidemic intelligence data

This report presents the analysis of surveillance data
reported for 2010 by the 27 EU Member States and three
EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) as well as an analysis of communicable disease threats detected in 2011.

It is intended primarily for policymakers, health service leaders, epidemiologists and researchers, and also for the wider public. It aims to provide an overview of the epidemiological situation in the European Union relating to communicable diseases of public health importance.

The report also indicates areas where a continued or increased public health response may be required in order to decrease the burden of these diseases.
