Following the agreement reached at the European Council in Brussels on 24 and 25 October 2002, the Spanish Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Miguel Arias Cañete, told Andalucian farmers, on 2 November 2002, that they would receive more than 14.460 million euros in direct aid over the next eleven years.
