Alitalia, the Italian state airline, has published a four-point plan

to reconstruct itself and win a capital increase of 730 million ecu. This includes shedding staff, changing routes, finding alliances with other international airlines, and better industrial relations. The Commission wants information on the plan from Alitalia and will write to the company unless the restructuring programme is notified in the coming days.
