The European Parliament voted on 21 April 2004 by 276 votes in favour to 260 votes against with 13 abstentions that the matter of transferring transatlantic air passenger information to the United States should be referred to the European Court of Justice. The Association of European Airlines says the vote could jeopardise the data transfer agreement between the US and the European Commission.
