At the first day of the UK Farnborough air show, 17 July 2006, Airbus was expected to unveil its plans for a new range of 250-350 seat long-haul jets in a $10bn development programme, as it starts its fightback against a resurgent Boeing. The European aircraft maker is also planning to launch later in 2006 a multi-billion-euro cost-saving effort to bolster its competitiveness, which is being undermined by the weakness of the US dollar against the euro. |
