Airbus pleaded strongly, June 2007, for further government funding to help it meet the challenge of a revived Boeing as a high number of orders boosted its struggling A350 programme. Louis Gallois, Airbus chief executive, called for much greater state financial support for Airbus research and technology investment, and warned that the continuing weakness of the US dollar against the euro could force the group to source more of its supplies and manufacturing in dollar-zone countries.
