Airbus A350 successfully completes maiden test flight

The newest aircraft from European planemaker Airbus, the A350, took off on its maiden flight on the 14 June 2013.

The Airbus A350 was designed to be more fuel-efficient, and a direct competitor to US rival Boeing's 787 Dreamliner.

Deutsche Welle reported on the 17 June 2013 that the world's largest aviation show has kicked off in Paris, with the Le Bourget event expected to fuel rivalry between Europe's Airbus and Boeing from the US.
