A meeting of theĀ Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) was held on 11-12 December 2022. The agenda includes the following items:

  • Political agreement on fishing opportunities for 2023 in the Atlantic, North Sea, Mediterranean and Black Sea, as well as for some deep-sea stocks for 2023 and 2024;
  • Political agreement on provisional quotas for shared fish stocks with the United Kingdom (UK) and Norway;

  • Exchange of views on the possibility of using the agricultural reserve for 2023;

  • Discussion on the evaluation of the existing animal welfare legislation;
  • Discussion on multiannual fishing quotas and their importance in ensuring predictability for fishermen and stock sustainability;
  • Update on the state of play of draft Regulation on geographical indications and quality schemes across the EU;
  • Exchange of views on the draft Regulation for the sustainable use of pesticides;
  • Discussion on front of pack and sustainable food labelling.
