The age distribution of tertiary educated professionals and technicians at the EU level indicates smaller ageing workforce problems than for other employees. The situation at the country level is however heterogeneous. In Spain more than 38% of the population with third level education is aged 25-34, in Germany the corresponding figure is 16%. Europe's oldest population of scientists and engineers are found in Latvia and Bulgaria. At the same time, unemployment rates for human resources in science and technology is very low in the Czech Republic and very uneven in Italy. |
