Advisers lambast Merkel’s policy on economy

Article reports that the German government’s own advisers have criticised November 2009 its tax cut plans and its attempted bailout of carmaker Opel as 'not serious' and 'unjustifiable', adding their voices to the mounting criticism of Angela Merkel’s economic policy.

The German Council of Economic Experts (GCEE) published on the 13 November 2009 its Annual Report 2009/10 on Germany’s economic outlook and policy challenges. The title of this year’s report is “Die Zukunft nicht aufs Spiel setzen” (Securing the future through responsible economic policies). In addition, the Council published a special report focusing on the resilience of the German economy to international shocks (“Deutschland im internationalen Konjunkturzusammenhang”).
