European Law Series:
The Longman European Law Series is a new series of topic-based books on EC law, under the series editorship of Professor John Usher. The series is aimed specifically at a student readership, though it is hoped that titles will also be of interest to academic researchers and practitioners. Each topic chosen is placed in an overall Community context, and while the primary perspective is legal, the related socio-economic and political contexts are also noted where relevant.

Two of the first titles in the series are:

EC consumer law and policy:
The Maastricht Treaty on European Union brought consumer law and policy within the scope of formal Community competence. This book provides a substantial and up-to-date introduction to the subject, explaining the evolution of consumer law and policy in the EC in terms of both legislative and judicial activity. At the same time the book situates EC consumer law and policy within its broader social, political and economic context, providing a window onto a range of wider issues (and tensions) relating to Community regulatory strategies and their effect on the Member States.

Chapter headings are: The evolution of Community consumer policy; Negative law and market integration; Market transparency and consumer protection; Regulating the substance of consumer transactions; Product liability; Advertising law; Product safety regulation; Access to justice; Evaluating Community consumer policy.
