Adoption of a resolution on the situation in Syria

The European Parliament's plenary session approved on 24 November 2016 a non-binding resolution urging all parties to the conflict in Syria to ensure humanitarian aid access throughout the country and cease bombing civilians.

MEPs defended that those responsible for violations of international human rights and humanitarian law should 'sooner or later' face justice.

The resolution also calls for all parties to the conflict, as well as the International Syria Support Group (ISSG) to resume and intensify political negotiations to find a stable truce and a lasting political settlement the country.
