Administrative cooperation between Member States as implementation of European Union (EU) law has so far attracted little attention. This article would like to demonstrate that it is nevertheless a key element of the functioning of many EU legislations and policies. Especially, its relevance is explicit for all the internal market-related matters. This article addresses three main points. First, EU law provisions related to administrative cooperation are analysed. Second, the instruments of cooperation displayed by EU law are categorized arguing that their use creates a network pattern of cooperation. Finally, side effects of administrative cooperation are addressed.
